The so-called ‘renewal’ programme at Perth’s largest, premier cemetery, Karrakatta, is causing unnecessary angst and concern for families from all over WA.
‘Renewal’ is the process of removing gravestones and other markers from existing graves, and then creating new graves in between the old plots.
I’ve spoken repeatedly in Parliament on this subject, as well as in the state and national media, calling for a full and public review of the Cemeteries Act 1986.
